The hiker watched from a distance
The mother bird returned to the nest
The castle in the trees

The hiker was alone feeling time stop in the present moment
The chorus of birds inspired a song to replace his shallow thoughts
The nest had small beaks chirping over the sounds of the forest
The hiker stored his binoculars in a backpack

The birds lived in the moment
The nest was a castle of their own creation
The trees were the knights standing guard

The hiker continued to walked down the trail feeling time start without him while the chorus faded into shallow thoughts
